Blessed with an extensive network of trails, the holiday region of Avelengo – Verano – Merano 2000 on the plateau above Merano offers a wide array of hiking options in winter and summer alike: there are winter trails and partially cleared snow trails.
Secluded routes pass through woods and fields and across Alpine pastures and meadows, where they reward hikers with breathtaking panoramas of the surrounding mountains. The view ranges from the Texel Mountains all the way to the Dolomites, and from the area around Mount Ortler to the Dolomiti di Brenta Mountains in the south.
The ski lodges at Merano 2000 are accessible along easy, cleared snow trails and offer hot drinks and outstanding South Tyrolean cuisine to weary winter hikers. Spacious sun terraces are a great place to take a break when the temperature is mild. The sun shines hours longer on the high plateau, than it does in the valley and offers 360-degree views.
