Backcountry Skiing

At Merano 2000, backcountry skiers will find marked and free routes alike for challenging climbs and exhilarating downhill runs. The sunny, southern-facing open high trails across the Monzoccolo/Tschögglberg Plateau are worthwhile.

On the high plateau of Merano 2000, backcountry skiers will find numerous free routes: here, experience and good equipment are an absolute must.

In January, February and March, the ski runs of Meran 2000 are illuminated whenever there is a full moon. The ascent along Trail No. 14 is popular amongst backcountry skiers. Dates: 13.01.2012, 10.02.2012 und 9.03.2012.

Tip

From Falzeben, backcountry skiers can take Trail No. 14, which is groomed in winter, and go past the Zuegghütte and Rotwandhütte mountain huts to Piffing, and from there continue to the Waidmannalm Alpine pastures, Meraner Hütte mountain hut, and finally to the Leadner Alm pastures. The return trip goes to the village of Avelengo and then back to Falzeben on the bus.
